Review: “If On a Winter’s Night…” (Sting)

Sting’s fans – at least, those like myself – wait with a mixture of enthusiasm and mild trepidation when he announces a new album.  His avant garde style makes his work predictably unpredictable – who else would write an album containing both a song with rap in French and another that sounds like 100% American county/western?  The man does Soul and sea chanties with equal aplomb.  Nevertheless, I bought “If on a Winter’s Night…” with fond memories of his rendition “I Saw Three Ships” dancing in my head.
